European Championships in Glasgow!

European Championships Come to Glasgow

In the past few years Scotland has done well to establish itself as a major player in the world sports scene. From the Commonwealth Games of 2014 to the Ryder Cup a year later and, now, Glasgow will play host to the European Championships. Showcasing a number of sports from rowing to golf, swimming and gymnastics, the events will run from 2nd – 12th August, and the city is set to come alive in that time. Broadcasting events to up to a billion people across the continent (yep, one billion – you heard us right. Scotland has truly earned its place on the sporting map!), the events will take place throughout the city and beyond.

If you love your sporting action, then we’ve got the perfect few days planned out for you. Start your city break off on the right foot by booking a stay at the Albion Hotel. Our three-star residence is perfectly placed in the heart of Glasgow’s West End, with transport links to all events on our doorstep. You’ll find knowledgeable staff on hand to help you plan your way around the Championships, and a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day – even better, our current deal means that if you book before the end of June, breakfast is on us!

There’s plenty going on just a few minutes’ walk from our hotel but if you fancy an adventure, take a hop skip and a jump (or a walk, subway and train!) to Gleneagles. The famous PGA Centenary Course at the estate will host the golfing championships over it’s challenging 18 holes. Pass through the city centre on the way home and treat yourself to a good feed after a day in the countryside – try The Dhabba for a North Indian feast and a cool glass of Cobra to round the day out.
