15 Nov Carnival Crazy at Christmas
Carnival Crazy at Christmas!
If you’ve taken us up on one of our festive offers, then you might find yourself at the Albion Hotel in time for some of Glasgow’s most popular winter-season events. The city comes to life with thousands of illuminations lighting up its streets for revellers to enjoy, and locals start getting into the spirit of merriment as window displays spread a little Christmas magic over shoppers. Some of the best-loved events start early, with the big light switch-on taking place on Sunday 19th November, but there’s plenty more to enjoy once the season has been officially kicked off.
Just a week later, on November 26th, there’s a celebration worth sticking in your diary as Glasgow Style Mile comes to life during the Christmas Carnival. This vibrant event makes its way from St Enoch Square at 2:30pm, taking a colourful journey along to George Square with floats, magical characters and plenty of music to be enjoyed in the procession.
If you’re looking to make a day of it, why not start off with hearty breakfast from yours truly (what else?) then take a walk along the River Clyde to the city centre? Sure, it’s no small stroll but you’ll take in the cityscape along the way, with plenty of interesting architecture to be enjoyed too.
Next, head to the European market at St Enoch Square and refuel with French crepes and a hot glass of Gluhwein to get you in the celebratory mood. Join the parade at its start point, following it along Argyle Street, Queen Street and, if you’ve still got plenty of energy, through the second half of the route, taking in St Vincent Street and West Nile Street. The musical spectacle at the carnival’s end will definitely get your feet moving and if you want to continue the party once it’s done, head to the Merchant City for cocktails and food and see where the night takes you!
