03 Jul Halloween In Glasgow
Halloween In Glasgow!
As if you didn’t know already, in Scotland we love a good knees-up. Ever-ready for a party and a good swally (drink), us Scots have got a reputation to uphold and we’re only too happy to take the responsibility of partying till the wee hours to keep that reputation intact. It’s not all boozing and kebabs at 1am though because in Glasgow we’ve got an unparalleled (well, we think so anyway!) program of events throughout the year to keep us entertained.
Halloween is the unofficial jewel in the crown, with the city truly coming alive to celebrate all things ghostly. However you like to mark All Hallows’ Eve you’ll find something to suit your fancy just a few minutes from the Albion Hotel. Read on to see our top picks of this year’s bunch.
Glasgow Horror Fest
This now annual event makes its home at the Classic Grand in bustling Charing Cross. The festival takes place across two days and will be showing moving classics in conjunction with Popcorn Horror, as well as eerie, twisted shorts to make you squirm. The fun doesn’t stop there though. Follow hosts as they lead you into STEREO’s boiler room on October 27th for a night of silent film screenings, dancing and DJ sets. Created with the help of Scare Scotland, this evening’s merriment could turn out to be more than a little freaky. Lastly, there’s a bunch of alternative horror outings on the bill with Big Puppet Theatre Co. pulling out all the stops for a live theatre double-bill of terror, and talented makeup artist Taarna Swanson giving you a behind-the-scene glimpse of how some of your favourite gore-some looks are created.
Maximum Pressure Halloween
Sold-out for the last three years and counting, Maximum Pressure Halloween at one of Glasgow’s hottest all-night party spots – SWG3 – is back for more in 2018. The full lineup is yet to be announced but Slam have already been announced as headliners. If you’re familiar with Slam you’ll know to expect bass-heavy, brain-twisting beats. Mix that with a few hundred revelers packed into the warehouse setting and you’re in for an explosive night.
Forget Me Not Halloween Ball
If you fancy a top-quality night out that won’t finish too late and allows you to do your bit for charity, then get a group together and head to the Forget Me Not Ball at the Marriott Hotel. This glittering event will feature fantastic entertainment, a three-course meal, and sparkling drinks reception all included in the ticket price. Guaranteed to be a night to remember, the best bit is that all profits go directly into the pockets of Alzheimer Scotland to help enable them to carry on their fantastic work with those living with the disease – bonus!
Session Victim Live at Berkley Suite
Rounding off the recommendations list is an appearance by notoriously wild German duo, Session Victim. Taking to the stage at one of Glasgow’s premier party venues, the Berkley Suite, there’ll be plenty of bass guitar, synth and disco-house vibes to really get the party going.
