Family Fun in Glasgow
If you’ve come to our fair shores with the family in tow, then you’ll be glad to know we’ve sorted out a list of some of the best places to let little ones blow off some steam. Glasgow has a fantastic range of museums and entertainment centres to suit all ages and, even better, they’re all just a train or bus ride away from our hotel meaning you can make a bee-line for bed once you’re all worn out.
Glasgow Science Centre
Glasgow’s Science Centre sits imposingly on the River Clyde, with its armadillo-like architecture providing one of the most memorable sites on the city’s skyscape. Inside, you’ll find a huge array of interactive exhibitions, all designed to inspire young minds and make science fun. Check out their regular demonstrations (we saw an exploding potato once!) for plenty of whizz, pops and bangs, and finish the day off by catching a film at the on-site IMAX cinema.
Just 20 minutes away by bus or car, Braehead Soar will keep you covered if you encounter rain during your stay (rain… in Glasgow? Surely not!). It’s a true wonderland of kid-friendly activities with a climbing wall and free-fall experience as you enter, followed by ten-pin bowling, soft play, amusement arcade, laser tag and cinema… did we forget anything? You’ll find a range of restaurants catering for all tastes too if you happen to get hungry after all of that!
A short drive from our hotel you can indulge your competitive streak with a game of crazy golf at Jurassic Parr. This dinosaur-themed course gives the kids a giggle as dinos loom over all 18 of its holes. Given that we’re not famed for our fantastic weather, make sure you wrap up warm and take spare layers. Once you’re out there it’s tons of fun and the kids will love the chance to beat mum and dad in a competition!
Any Lego fans out there? We’ve yet to come across a little one who doesn’t love those brightly-coloured bricks and usually mums and dads enjoy building just as much! This event is not to missed if that’s the case in your family. See awe-inspiring creations from world-leading Lego builders (yes, that’s a real job!) or dive into a brick pit and start designing your own. The event takes place at the SECC, within walking distance of our hotel, and is sure to be popular so do book tickets in advance.
