Christmas Market Cheer

Christmas Market Cheer!

It’s not quite the Most Wonderful Time of the year, but we’re well on our way! That’s right, festive fun is right around the corner, so it’s time to start preparing those shopping lists and making a game plan. It doesn’t need to feel like a chore though, as here at the Albion Hotel we’re full to the brim with good ideas for how to make the best of tackling that to-do list.

The most pressing matter is usually present-buying and there’s no better place to do it than our own fair city of Glasgow. Not only do we have two shopping centres in a central location, there’s Princes Mall for high-end goods and the Style Mile for all your fashion choices too. In the run up to Christmas though, you get even more bang for your buck if you book a shopping trip to Glasgow, with ten different festive markets to hit up too. Read on to see our top picks of the bunch.

European Markets at St Enoch and George Square

These are the old favourites. For almost a decade now, Glasgow has played host to a huge range of stalls in two of the city’s most popular squares, giving visitors a chance to sample cuisine from around the world and buy unique gifts. Expect a dedicated bar area, kids’ activities and plenty of grub.

3D2D Glasgow Christmas Craft, Art and Design Fair

This event, held at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on 1st and 2nd of December, has an interesting twist – all vendors can sell only their own work. That means you’ll be right on track if you’re looking for something handmade and interesting. Prices range from a few pounds for stocking fillers up into the big bucks for original artworks.

Supermarket Christmas

Billed as the “ultimate independent shopping experience,” this flea market will boast over 50 stalls with everything from flowers, to beauty products to fresh produce and food available to buy on the day. A festive version of the weekly event, Supermarket Christmas will be open on Sundays from 26th November to 16th December at the Argyle St Arches (an iconic space in its own right and well worth having a snoop around in!).

Country Living Fair, Glasgow

Country Living magazine are renowned for their twice-yearly fairs. A smorgasbord of edible treats, decorations, gift ideas and more awaits as you step into the magical wonderland the team somehow manage to deliver to perfection each year at the SEC. You can expect plenty of freebies, crafting workshops and food tasters – sounds wonderful!
